Barack Obama has endured month after month of right wing attacks. Despite reaching out to the other side time and time again, Republicans have failed to join him in anything, attacking everything he has tried to do. The level of opposition is unprecedented.
The good will of the country is being poisoned by hateful entities intent on destroying President Obama. Conservatives have embraced hate as a political tool. With the backing of the media, extremism has become mainstream, and propaganda is blasted across the airways 24 hours a day. And now, with the Supreme Court ruling that corporations can give unlimited amounts to political campaign, money is flooding into Republican satchels. All of this has to be checked, and checked now.
It's time to put the pedal to the metal. There's two months until the critical 2010 midterm elections and we have to start now to turn out the vote-- the country depends upon it! With this in mind, I've started Barack's Backers; We have President Obama's back, How 'bout you?
Please help me turn the tide. President Obama and the Democrats need our help. It's time to stand up for what we believe in. Over the next two months I'm going to do everything I can to help Democrats win, because if Democrats win, the country wins.
The first thing I'm asking people to do is to CLAIM IT. If you support President Obama then say it. Dust off those t-shirts and caps and put them on, put the Obama bumper stickers on your car, put up a sign in your window. Let's be proud of what we believe in and who we support, let's be proud to call ourselves Democrat. If you're like me, it's a little intimidating these days -- it's crazy the level of animosity out there. We have to stand up, we have to fight back, we have to give a future to our children.
